Folks, if you are linking to your Google Doc, please set it to view only and not to editing permission - my toddler just took off with my laptop and banged a bunch of nonsense onto the title page, I didn't even realize I was on as an editor.

If I discover I have editing permission on a Google Doc, is there a way to take myself to comment/view only?

You CAN change yourself to Viewer via the little pencil icon upper right, but little fingers could still accidentally change it back, I suppose. I don't know how to make it permanent.

Well, I am the Queen of Botch. Someone in review pointed out that my prompt was a vacuum cleaner not a vacuum (which I used in the context of space.) I swear I read just vacuum when I checked the prompts.

Likely, in 35 stories I've written for NYCm, I am going to get my very first DQ. <kicks things and pouts>

I'm sorry. I was dq'd because I used carried not "carry" and I have no clue how that happened. I even wrote it out properly and must've had a blonde moment and edited it as the clock was ticking towards midnight.

I didn't want to deal with judges who make assumptions so I botched it and didn't submit.

Haha, someone who is always ahead of the curve!
I did a poor job with my response Cry. First round feedback included assumptions/preconceived notions that I got dinged for and for this round I liked my story enough that I didn't want to deal with hearing that a cardroom is only in a casino. There are cardrooms in houses, country clubs or anywhere someone wants to pitch a tent and with those prompts maybe it will lead somewhere.

I have one last screenplay round to get through Smile

I have learned over the years not to take anything the judges say to heart.
I have had them want to rewrite my story, though they liked the title. You
have to remember they must write something for the feedback, and for the
most part they are no more a judge than what can be grabbed by putting
up an add on craigslist. The other judges are academics that feel the power,
lol. So, write your stories, post on the forum and reap what you can from
that feedback, at least someone is reading your stories, that's a hoot, I have
had 500 people read some of my stories on here. Way better than just my
family and friends.
Pluss, you get to write to some pretty outlandish prompts that you would never
have thought of, much less actually written something about. I just look at
it all as fun. I have written a lot of stories that woulda never seen the light
of day.

I don't think I ever properly thanked you for your post. I had far too much fun with the second round of the short screenplay and while I won't advance, I can now say I crammed more references to chocolate in five pages than all of Willy Wonka LOL
