MF250 2020 was my first challenge!  It's hard to believe it's only been a year.  And I would have guessed that you had been doing this for a LOT longer.  Smile

What a great idea. I’m going to try and dig around the archives. Might take a while.

The reason we post our stories in a sub forum is because only people who are members of the NYCM group can see them there.  However, in this lower forum just about anyone can see what we write -- that is why you never post your stories in the lower part of the forum, only the sub forum above.

By putting them where you have them now, you have essentially published them.  At least, by most publisher's concept of publishing you have.

I'm only telling you this to be helpful.  You don't want someone who isn't a regular/real member popping in and taking off with your stories.  You could argue that because you used them in this contest that you have proof they are yours, but do you really want to go through all that?

If you want to share them like this, why not have some locked posts and share them with each other?

If you doubt what I'm saying, why not log out and see whether you can get into the sub forum (the part where people post their stories) without being logged in? I think you'll find that you can get into this part of the forum (anyone can) but not the story part.  That's why you only post the personal info there.

@sootfoot5 That's only true if people are linking direct to their stories. If they are linking to their posts in the review forums, then non-members won't be able to access them.

Thanks for pointing out the possible risks there! I was stressed for a sec haha.

Luckily I think we're safe - I just logged out as a test and although anyone can see this thread, the stories themselves are still within their private forums so cannot be accessed without an account (it prompts you to login if you click on any of the links). So in the end it's still just as safe as linking a story in your signature :)

This thread means titles/placements are public but since most of those are already public either in the official results page or the Title/Synopsis threads, I wouldn't worry.

I thought you looked familiar!

We don't talk about "them." but between you and me, they were "written out."

In researching whether or not I want to do this (I don't), I found no less than 3 stories I had absolutely no memory of having written, including one I STILL don't remember even after reading it. I am baffled. Definitely early-onset dementia.
