I haven't seen anyone else in my group (75) on the forums, but I see a lot of people got horror, thriller and ghost stories. I think less is always more with horror and suspense, but crafting atmosphere in so few words is pretty exciting.
I wrote 5 stories and I was fairly happy with all of them. In the end, I submitted my second choice based on the balance of opinions I'd received from friends and family, but I got more feedback after submitting confirming that another was my best. The one I submitted was the first I wrote, and the one I think I should have submitted was my last!
Ultimately, I have 5 creepy little stories that I like, so it's a win even if I don't win-win!

How is it that I always get a genre I've never written before? Didn't know genres were endless.

Well a thriller so short will definitely be a challenge in any case.

Suspense/Thriller is my go-to every time there's an open genre assignment...I feel like you might be able to use the hammer to LITERALLY break a promise in this one! 🤔

Surprisingly my premise came to me right away. I was able to find a nice flow. Let’s see how it goes.

Kristina F, Glad to see you back.  We were in the same group for short story so I know you were struggling a bit with the idea of doing this one!

Thanks. Glad to see familiar names in this one. I wasn't big on 'subject' being a prompt for short story, so I won't do that one again. I just wasn't having much fun with it, especially compared to MF 250. I was going to hold off for a bit before doing another but flash feels pretty far away.

Hope comedy treats you well. I'd like to draw it at some point, but I will say it's one of the more daunting genres from my perspective.

I enjoyed SS more than this,  but I'm verbose by nature.  I am relatively comfortable with comedy,  so definitely not complaining with my draw.  Is MF 250 very similar to 100?

My first time entering this. And I can't believe how incredibly taxing this was. I think I have a word hangover haahahahaha

*roflmao* over your use of "taxing" after writing with the action "paying a bill".

Group 79 Sci fi/paying an overdue bill/bottom

I got sci-fi first round last year too, which worked well for me! But completely different angle this time, I actually made it a sci-fi comedy. Hope it doesn’t backfire!

And on that note, why do you think it is that there are hardly aver any comedies in the top 10 entries? Mmmmm.
