...you were in another heat?

Did anyone see another prompt and feel like they could give it a shot? Why not, while we're all waiting?

Nothing in particular stood out quite yet. But I would have LOVED ghost story or horror. I love doing short horror stories. And the 100 word limit has so many possibilities for minute scares.

I really liked my prompt to be honest!

But I've done 16 rounds of stories for this contest, and I've gotten every single NYCM genre except for action/adventure, romance, fantasy/fairy tale, and sci-fi. My favorite genres to write? Action/adventure, fantasy/fairy tale, and sci-fi.

Just once I'd really like to land one of those prompts, lol. Especially fantasy.

Thanks for the thread :) It's a fun idea

I like writing sci fi, and never got that as a prompt, but it didn’t stop me putting sci fi into a comedy or into a ghost story...

Well... can't expect others to follow if you don't lead, right? So maybe I'll throw my hat in the ring and see if people will join in on the fun. Or practice.

This one is... I think G51: Sci-fi / changing a diaper / million.

-- with my cold, (un)dead hands, i beg --

"I don't wanna die," you plead. But you won't touch the vial.

Sis. Listen. I know. Tastes like sulfur. Goes down like sin. Burns you inside. Fire when you're alive, ice when you're dead.

I drank it.

Mom might not forgive me. She made you promise, right? Take care of your little brother? You did every dirty thing for me: changed my diaper; black-eyed my bullies. But now I'm dead.

But not like those millions out there.

We'll be ourselves.

Sis. It's okay. Close your eyes. Think of something you wanna do when it's done. And drink in the plague.

I got RomCom, which I should have done well with, but I messed it up so badly, I might as well not have submitted it. My writing in general is deemed 'funny' by kind reviewers, but after this challenge I think I need to draw some inevitable conclusions. One, kinder  one, would be that I am just not very good at writing competitions, and writing to prompts and strict word count is not my thing. Another one would be, well, I am not ready to hear it, ecen from myself.
Anyway. Sci-fi or fantasy would be my biggest nightmare. I would not have even tried. LOL

I am not a romance reader or writer. Nor am I romantic by nature. But the idea of a 100 word romance has a certain appeal, so I wouldn't have minded giving that a crack.

Having said that, I also really enjoyed the challenge of building suspense in my R1 piece.

Being WAY too hard on yourself Ania. I just read your story and it was really clever. see what other writers think before you go and hand yourself a fail grade....
