Ha, realized that belatedly; had been trying to find Tracy's original post for this round. But I did read it, and absolutely loved it. Such vivid depictions of the bio-engineered creatures, and such great humanizing of the droid.

Ooo, I'm hooked. And envious that you got Sci-Fi again. Can't wait to read!

Ah, erm, WHOOPS! Not sure what happened there, a rather over-zealous edit! Anyway, I look forward to posting my screenplay, GRO, shortly.

Absolutely! If we Americani(z)e everything, we'll lose our own special flavour!! And either way I had fun trying to write to Australia in the 70s. We will find out what side they fall on - my hope is that the plot and characters are universal enough that the references are just dressing! Excited to read your horror @MickeyT - I've loved everything you've written so far! |

I, myself, have been called a larrikin on more than one occasion
I've set a couple of my stories in Oz (including a historical fiction piece during the Victorian gold rush), but usually Americanise (oops -- Americanize!) my writing for NYC Midnight. In saying that, the judges fully understand this is an international competition and cultural diversity is ALWAYS a beautiful thing! |

Oh no! This is a bad sign, hahaha!! A larrikin is an Australian term for a cheeky, mischievous (usually young male) person. |

Group 5 / Ghost Story /A Beer Garden / Vinegar
Amusement Two coaster enthusiasts meet up with an old cowboy, and find they have a lot more in common than they expected. I have SUCH a hard time coming up with loglines. I wish I'd tried to get some beta advice, but oh well. |

Group 7 / historical fiction / a blood bank / a fish Radioactive Technology In 1972, a larrikin blood bank worker just got his hands on one of these new-fangled electric oven thingos and he can't wait to try it with his colleagues. I can't say I have ever written historical fiction before (except for maybe in history class in year 7??), so I'm not sure I nailed it! Plus I chose to set it in Australia... so some of my era references might be a bit obscure, oh no So many of these loglines sound incredible!! I can't wait to read some of these, dang. |
