Technical editor/publisher (long-form documentation, API guides, user-facing knowledge articles, video scripts) for cloud documentation. I write poetry, short stories, novels, and various forms of scripts--screen, stage, and radio. Also I like to cook, always by taste and feel--it's boring to me to create the same meal twice. I always experiment and adjust. Prefer the Syrahs/Merlots to Cab/Savs, and I'm partial only to champagne among the clears. No, I don't do the pinks.

Pithy sayings are for the apt. For a longer message, you need a condo.

Main job is writing scripts and treatments for corporate videos (mostly animation and motion graphics) but the amount of times we don't have scripts or treatments to do is a lot lol. So am also using working at a production company as an opportunity to learn editing, storyboarding, producing and all that good stuff.
I've always written, but at the moment I would say I'm still finding my jam. Screenwriting, playwriting, novel writing and figuring out how to write freelance all share my very-much-divided attention. Which is why I really rate NYC -- the short deadlines force me to focus on finishing one project, one type of media.

I’m a content writer/editor at an educational company, after several years in the classroom as an English teacher. I get to write and correct grammar every day - my two favorite things!

I wish I got paid to write! Not yet, but soon! Good things in the works.
I currently have a home bakery. I went to culinary school and really love to cook (more than baking actually). However writing has and always will be my #1 passion. Even as a kid, I was writing short stories and poems. I thought I would write novels until I was about 17. Then I dove head first into screenwriting. My friend basically forced me to enter this contest after she found it and did the flash fiction. I'm glad she did! In a 'super' short amount of time, I wrote this short and helped film it for Tuf Cooper (rodeo champ). Kind of a promo. And be forewarned, it is meant to be corny! I even threw in a product placement, one of those goofy things I've always wanted to do . Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnPXyGpBnzY&t=1s - Janae

Senior French Writer/Editor for the Canadian Gov. It's not soul-sucking, but it's also not the most creative or dynamic workplace. I just finished a stint as a Consumer Policy Analyst, and this felt more creative and dynamic, though a LIIIIIITLE more soul-sucking.
NYCM came to me via a Facebook ad just in time for me to enter the 2017 Screenwriting Challenge. Having NEVER written a screenplay before and not exactly having 75 CAD to spend on fickle things like contests, of course I entered. The rest is history. I've actually never done as good as my first time in SWC (2nd then HM), FF (1st, 2nd, then HM) or SSC (1st, 1st, then HM). I hope to revive the flames with Short Story, where I was miffed last year with my chatlog/police reports gamergate story. Bring it.

French. Bah. I seriously need to get less lazy and start polishing my French (I should just replace it...hard to polish something that...anyway) since I'm going to be in France next year. Gamergate story rocked. It also happened recently (not to that degree, but darn close); ran into a story about something like that on the news. |

In a way, I hate how it keeps being relevant. Also, thanks!
