Hi!
I remember seeing that someone had posted about screenwriting software (which might have been free....) - which worked really well.

Can anyone give a recommendation?

Thank you!

Hi

There are a couple of comments on software below under 'Topic: A little Introduction- Newbie Alert'.

I also did a search for 'free screenplay software review' on a well-known search engine and it took me to 'https://www.scriptreaderpro.com/free-screenwriting-software/' which is useful.

If you want totally free, without watermarks and without script limits it looks like 'DramaQueen', 'Story Architect', 'Page 2 Stage', 'StudioBinder', 'Trelby' all seem to work with Windows and Mac.

'Highland 2' works with Mac but adds watermarks.

I haven't tested any of them so any feedback you (or others) have will be useful to me too (as a newbie). Hope that helps.

Me again
Whilst looking at the FAQ 'Screenwriting Challenge FAQ — nycmidnight' they mention, with links, ' Celtx' or 'Scripped' under the question 'What are the proper screenplay formatting rules? Do you have any recommendations?'

I would try this, Fade In Professional Screenwriting Software
Then if you like it it is a one time buy, not every couple of years some programs tell you, you need to repurchase.
The program works and you will be happy with it.

I made the mistake of buying Final Draft a few years ago and every year they are on you to buy the next one, and now they have decided to stop allowing anyone with 10, which I have, and only for five years, to ever reinstall it again.
The other thing is they do not fix any problems for windows, they say it is not their problem it is windows call them, lol. A friend here on NYCM gave me that fix and it was a major pain in the ass kind - the cursor would keep disappearing. The windows version I have they never had an update for it. They are just a bad company taking all they can.

When it is time to change computers, I will be getting the Fade IN program. There is no way I will give Final Draft any more of my money. If you are a first time buyer then the Final Draft price is pretty damn high, like $300?

I am sure you will be happy with it.
I mean in the big picture, just how import are some things in life?
Having a serviceable program to write a screenplay is all most of us will need, lol.
