Are you currently browsing the forum to avoid looking at that near-empty draft? Did you sign up to the rhyming comp only to feel every creative bone in your body go on strike? Are you reallllllly wanting to run away and watch Netflix, but also too darn stubborn to give up?

Then the Don’t Quit Club is for you! Comment today and air all your complaints and anxieties about rhyme schemes, writer’s block, and that countdown that just keeps counting down. Sometimes a healthy dose of solidarity is all you need to keep pushing through. ;)

(So yeah. I have an idea but no draft, and I’m losing my mind a little haha. Where are my fellow last-minute-scribblers at?)

I finished a second draft Wednesday. Basically started from scratch on Thursday because the second draft really missed a prompt. And I submitted a thing a few hours ago....totally unseen by anyone else because I panicked and thought if I waited any longer I'd never ever submit. So. Yeah.

I stuck it out, I did not quit.
Alhough I know I wrote pure sh*t.
A second round this will not bring.
I did not edit one damn thing.

I've had my general idea all week with some snippets of lines and rhymes brewing... but today is the day I actually get words down, start to finish. 8-day assignments are killer for a "master procrastinator" like me.

I fully expect to finish my first draft some point mid-afternoon, only to realize I didn't even have the idea I thought I did!  Honestly, just signed up for something new / a spin on the usual and excited to see what comes of everyone's efforts... I'm committed to submitting, though - no matter what Tongue

Good luck!

I am one of the worst procrastinators out there. I've had a first draft half finished for multiple days now and I just can't seem to push myself to get it done!! I know eventually I'll be forced into gear but it's going to be down to the wire. I'm a chronic down-to-the-last-second submitter Wacko

I fiddled and farted through the whole week
with nary a rhyme to be seen
until I hit Friday and panicked a bit
stuck in the "shoulda-beens".

Despite my despair I still only wrote
less than 150 words on that day
waking to only the intro penned down
and oodles of space on the page

Yet here I am finished, submitted and all.

Well-done! And good for you! I thought about doing the rhyming challenge, and even practiced. I found my attempts so annoying, I nearly broke out in hives. I came to the conclusion that, at best, I am suited to write a very annoying children's book. So, I wouldn't even attempt the rhyming challenge. Right before the deadline, I weakened and almost participated in spite of my disturbing trials, but: 600 words? A week? A week to be wrapped up in this? No, no, no. Three days, max, 300 words, is all I could allow. I am, however, looking forward to what all of you brave people write. Your encouragement poem is much better than anything I wrote.

I just finished.   It's been a crazy week.  I had my first chemotherapy session (my cancer is very minor as these things go, but it is cancer -- lymphoma -- and needs to be treated).  Then Hurricane Ian came through the state.  I'm lucky in that it went south, then east of where I am, but still....

Going to let the story sit for a few hours, then give it a last look & submit it this evening.

Waving hello!

I have 185 words, 5 verses, 2 characters, and several single syllable words that rhyme.  And almost 8 hours left.  And here I am reading the forums…what is wrong with me?

I will submit despite myself.

Good Luck, all!

Seven
