Just to say hi to all you writing this weekend, while stating
emphatically that I don't want Political Satire!  Other than
that anything will do.

I got political satire last time around and it wasn't as awful as I expected it to be!  I think it really benefits from the wacky prompts--PS really connects best in a comedy situation in my experience.

I love political satire and somehow find a way to sneak it into most of my pieces. I don't love doing procedurals for flash (mystery, crime caper, spy) but am open to pretty much anything.

Mystery was rough last year, but I managed. As much as it's supposed to be my strength, I might have to say fantasy. 1000 words is not a lot of room for worldbuilding, and it got away from me.

Ugh. Also spy. I was assigned Spy in SSC and couldn't even finish the story. I wrote one decent Spy story (that I still love) and i couldn't think of anything to write that wasn't just writing the same sort of plot again.

Haha, I forgot about spy, I hate spy. I have had spy 4 times.

I'd love something new and different. i've never had spy or fairytale or action/adventure or a few others. I've gotten rom-commed to death. I'm not opposed to the genre, but I'd love something new!

In eight contests, I’ve now gotten everything but rom-com, comedy, horror, and poly satire—although I actually wrote poly satire (of my own free will) in this year’s Short Story Competition final.  Nothing really scares me, but I’d prefer not get mystery (which is really tough in 1000 words) or rom-com.  I’d love horror, just to see how dark I can get.

I love horror, writes itself. Mystery would be a challenge as I have never even read one, but would enjoy it.

Since I got rom-com in round 3 in Short Story, I'd have to say rom-com. I didn't enjoy it. But with flash & short screenplay, I often find it's the location that I grumble about, not the genre.
Having drawn Drama four times in NYCM comps since March, though, I'm guessing I'll get that again.
