This is technically my third year. But really only the first year I've given it any sort of actual effort. I've already surpassed my combined word count from the other two years, which... is a little sad. This year I'm just squeezing in time where I can, getting in some sprints, and see where it takes me. I've decided not to stress about hitting that 50,000 because I've already done better than before. If I hit it, great, if not - I'm ok with that. Steady and onward, we'll see where it ends. I'm behind right now but hey, life. But mostly it has been the kick in the pants to truly start on the novel I've been sitting on for a while, and it's fun to get that stuff down on paper (computer screen) finally.

Hi guys!
I'm going on to the next round, so I'm trying really hard to write through Sunday's par word count, which means I need to write, like, 6,000 more words--ideally today and tomorrow. I don't have anything standing in my way here--no kids, no job, and I totally agree that NaNoWriMo would be way more of a challenge otherwise, so great job to all of you who are multitasking! If I can get the 6,000 words written, it will be a win-win in which I can take a NaNo break this weekend and clear my head of my NaNovel. Of course, as I sit here, it's so much more fun to just mess around online. At least last night, I had an excuse (wait for results!). Now, not so much. Ooh, my blogger friend posted a new blog post!! And... I'm off!!

Ahh good luck to everyone who's taking a break from NaNo to write this weekend! Hopefully you all have time today and tomorrow to build up a healthy reserve of words. Personally I'm a little over 30k along (out of an overall goal of 100k) and I'm honestly glad I don't have to try to worry about trying to squeeze in NaNoing this weekend. :)

It has been a terrible month for me. My personal life is in a shambles. My medications messed up my hormones for ten days, which were pure hell for me and everyone who knows me. (Just run.) Enter that horrible pep talk which threw me into a tailspin. I got so upset I deleted my NaNo account and my books and all my profile info I had saved over there.
So, right now, I have today and tomorrow to make up a 13,500-word deficit and win NaNoWriMo. I'd appreciate anyone who wants to cheer me on to uncertain victory, and I'd love to hear how everyone else is doing in the penultimate day of the NaNo. Edited by Zelda - 29 Nov 2018 at 11:57am |

First, cheers for using the world penultimate, which is a favorite of mine. It was nice to see! Second, I am so sorry that it was a rough month. I really admire that you are still plugging away and have decided to keep going for the next two days. I wish you the very best!
I currently have about 7,000 words I need to make up for and I am such a slow writer! Here's to keeping that finish line in sight. In between family drama (and I have had more than my share this month), I plan to just write and write (and check in here, and teach classes, and otherwise be distracted):) You are awesome Zelda!

I write every day, but this is the first Nano that I've attempted a brand new draft of a brand new novel, and my brain is a melty pile of mush. These last few days have been so. Hard. BUT I have kept on pace every single day, and stuck to my slow and steady method. Just over 3k words to finish now, and I might try to knock them all out by the end of the day. Then, you know, shove this awful awful draft into a drawer for at least a month before I try to start adding and editing. |

Wow, you've gone the distance! Great job! And don't worry; my brain's always a huge pile of mush. 3,000 words to go? You can rock that.
I've closed the gap to needing 11,500. If I pull this off, I'll feel very proud of myself. This year has been harder than the one where I wound up hospitalized with pneumonia, but I won then. Yeah, let's rock this.

I'm down to 2200. I'm gonna do 6 ten minute sprints of 400 words and call this thing!

I had plenty of time to make a push for NANO and just gave out after about 12,000 words.
