12,000 words is pretty good, Lord Xoon!!

I went from 35,500 to 40,500 today. So if I can do, like, twice that tomorrow, I'll be there! It's remotely possible!!

(My dad asked why they didn't pick a 31-day month for NaNoWriMo, and I said it's because November and novel have the same first four letters. I guess.) Pinch

So, right now, I have today and tomorrow to make up a 13,500-word deficit and win NaNoWriMo. I'd appreciate anyone who wants to cheer me on to uncertain victory, and I'd love to hear how everyone else is doing in the penultimate day of the NaNo.

Hey Zelda,

Saw this comment of yours yesterday, wrote a reply and then deleted it. So....hope you're kicking ass today and are near the finish line.

Thank you fioOxf!! I love pom-poms!! HA HA! Oh no. I fell asleep, and now I don't think it's going to happen, it's 5:30 in the evening here, BUT... I'm very pleased with what I managed. 41,000 words, which is 4,500 more than I had at the start of yesterday. Hug No one in my writer's critique group made it either, so we're all wallowing in misery today (in a fun sort of way). Beer

Congrats to everyone for however many words you wrote, because it's more than you started this month with!! Woo hoo!!

I think I might have to do a NaNo next year. :)

I did not/will not win for 20k words in the next 3.5 hours is a no go. However, I learned a little bit about my own process, and that’s something.

Write on!

Good thoughts here. This isn't a process that works for everyone. It does work for me. I've always written fairly quickly, excitedly, and out of order, and I've always found a home for my nano words - after lots of time and edits. But one of my closest friends works best writing in chronological order, and doesn't do well on the fly, and struggles with nanowrimo.

to everyone who participated this year. It's a massive, difficult undertaking.

I agree on the word vomit point! I failed NaNoWriMo because what I wanted to work on required lots of research. I had actually intended to research it since ending SSC 2018 (since it started there) and got lazy. When I sat down to write, even after pounding out the structure and plot lines I was overwhelmed with the details I had to research (it's hist fic). I did much better in 2017 which was some hist fic but mostly fantasy/YA but still stalled. Think I should take September and October to build out what I want to write to get ready (or just write year-round which is a struggle for me when I am already drained by my writing job. It only struck me during NaNo how writing all day makes me feel completely disinclined to write once I get home.)

I just hit 50,000 but I cheated in so many ways that at this point it should not count. Also, I never actually signed up, so there is that. I'm going to try to write 4,428 before midnight, which is the amount I started with in October. Then I'll feel like I did not cheat as much. Still have about 5 hours here.

I did it. Sort of, kind of. Ended with 54,509. Should probably try it for real next year. Maybe. I'm really confused at this point.
