Newbie to all this here but I think different names to keep it clear what is going on where is a good idea.
For the battle ones maybe different words for battle - like a quick one could be a brawl/skirmish working up to a rumble/crusade or stick to the four seasons.

Hi Frey, welcome! Yeah totally agree. I do have a name for the smaller ones that is different than 'Battle,' but I purposely haven't shared it because I still might want to buy a couple domain names before revealing the name. Love your ideas for the name by the way! In fact... had I not already come up with a name, I would probably have used Brawl! Writing Battles and Writing Brawls... yeah that works.

However, I'm really excited about the name I chose! Can't wait to share it and the artwork for the page :D

Max, I’m excited for my third WB completion! Thank you for hosting.

WB is my all-time favorite contest. If anyone is still on the fence about signing up, definitely try Writing Battle — fun prompts, ability to switch genres, supportive community and it wraps up quite quickly so one isn’t waiting months for results. I enjoy being part of the judging process too, though this is optional now. Plus, the entry fee is reasonable. 😀 Countdown to Nov 1.

It's almost here! I've done 3 Writing Battles, all great experiences. Can't wait to see what genres are on offer!

I've just bitten the bullet and signed up.
Now feeling the fear. Aside from NYCM rhyming story challenge, I'm a complete newbie.
Feeling abit out of my depth now and I'm hoping I won't get completely slain in battle lol. Ouch
Looking forward to it though LOL

Can't wait for the battle to commence! I always love WB, and this 2000 length and 5 days seems great (aside the fact I work wed, Thurs, Fri and sat!) Looking forward to seeing I'm needed as a Spartan judge LOL love the name of that. Best of luck to all, and thanks Max for the original contest.

Just a note of appreciation for the time of the start of the battle being in local time - it makes it much less confusing!

@JennK && @slinkylink -- Thank you both for your support and input for this contest! It definitely makes the work easier when you have folks like yourselves enthusiastic about Writing Battle (or at least the concept... I know it's not perfect yet, but we're converging on something pretty cool I hope).

@Anneliese33 -- You got this! It's easy once you're actually participating. A little like most board games -- sometimes the rules seem more complicated before you start. Best way to learn is to play! Please, if you have any questions at all (seriously... any questions!), email me, Max, at admin@writingbattle.com  or  Teona at teona@writingbattle.com

@UK5AM -- Thank you, and I'm glad you like the name of Spartan Judge haha I was hoping it wasn't tooooo dorky, but that's I guess part of the goal with the names (including Writing Battle). So far there are only 3 people that have opted out of judging. Not nearly as many as I thought, but that could change in the future. Expect only one extra duel for this battle (which will be nice to get an additional 20% off the next battle).

@theinquisitor -- Yes I agree that it's way less confusing to use local time and thank you. Funny enough, during the very first Battle, I had a participant email me and complain about the countdown time using their own local time. If anyone here has done anything for a large population, it can be jarring the amount of mixed and opposing signals that you receive. Hard to decipher what makes a better experience hehe. It's really tough!

@Frey_a -- Sweet! Please let me know how you like it and any improvements that you feel we can make :)
