My walk down NYCM memory lane. Varying results abound! NYCM was a post-pandemic discovery for me, and I'm glad, because I'm hooked -- and think I've become a better writer because of the forums and simply just from the act of writing. Any excuse to write is a great one, so cheers to all of you here with already some robust resumes!
9/13: If I may, I do have personal favorites of what I submitted. The most fun I ever had writing something was certainly Francie and Wendy, which squeaked me into the second round of the Screenwriting 2021 Challenge. Another favorite is A NIGHT AT THE KASINO. And Being Bobby the Bobcat, even though that gave me a whopping zero points, is something I personally really enjoyed writing. Lastly, shoutout to UP IN SMOKE for my best finish, and perhaps really was my best writing so far. I borrowed so much from my actual job that I feel sheepish about that story, hehe ![]() Flash Fiction 2020 R1: Punch In. Punch Out. (9th) [Drama] R2: Our Garden (13th) [Fairy Tale] Short Screenplay 2020 R1: Fishing: A Human's Idea of Recreation (9th) [Sci-Fi] R2: Born to Run (5th) [Comedy] ...barely squeaked in as top 5 overall for heat... R3: Take the Money and Run [Romantic Comedy] Short Story 2021 R1: UP IN SMOKE (2nd) [Political Satire] R2: The Lovers' Suicide(s) [Ghost Story] Screenwriting 2021 R1: Francie and Wendy (5th) [Action/Adventure] R2: Yes, and... A Gun, Too (Please) [Thriller] Short Screenplay 2021 R1: A NIGHT AT THE KASINO (11th) [Historical Fiction] R2: Foiled (6th) [Thriller] Short Story 2022 R1: Dirk Nowitzki and the Snowsquall (first DQ for not following genre, lol) [Ghost Story] Screenwriting 2022 R1: The Upward Mobility of Villainy [Crime Caper]

I love writing them almost as much as I love reading them. A lesson in embracing and owning your crap stories too. It should be a NYCM institution.
