...Other than farting around on these here forums?

I'm cruising Youtube to try to find the perfect music to finish up this swamp fantasy.  Right now, the soundtrack to Neverending Story is in the lead, but I can't really be sure until I pore through another 100 or so vids.

I figure about 8:00 tonight I'll develop a little urgency.

Yay procrastination!

Rearranging my bedroom. No joke.

Amazon Prime Day brought a new bed just into my price range, so I've been cleaning and rearranging to prepare for its arrival.

I swear, my house will never be cleaner than it gets during these contests. LOL

Feeling a little better about my story today, though, so maybe I'll stop procrastinating so much.

Well, I am in the middle of a huge novel and come to the painful realization that I need to do several drafts of an outline. I am doing fiction prompts (including this one), short story revision, music videos, and this forum. In short, anything I can think of.

Well, I'm here - so there's that.
I've finished draft #2, which got rid of *most* of my extra 435 words, and completely changed the ending for the better.
Waiting to hear back from any of my 3 betas, and...avoiding rewriting it, though I know I must.
Next up: errands!
Then that last terrified rewrite before I hit "Send" and instantly regret it*

*Assuming this to be true based on past experience

Painting. As in painting a room not a creative masterpiece. I still have 140 words to cut and I don't want to give any of them up.

Re- watching the last few episodes of season 6 of Game of Thrones while staring at my story hoping a few words will just run away on their own.

Listening to "Whoever Fights Monsters" by Robert Ressler to drown out the cacophony of my three boys, thinking about vegetables and puzzling over why my table feels sticky. I finished my story at noon yesterday, but now I realize I probably should have spent more time fiddling with it. Oh well.

I taught my nephew how to ride his bike, took him to swimming lessons and searched for insects with him.

I've submitted now but really should have got my act together and got a beta. I know I'll regret that.

To sleep... ahhhhh heaven.

Reading this, reset my password on here, twice..ran some errands, deciding on the perfect music, set DVR for GOT, checked twitter, Facebook, instagram and Snapchat multiple times! Now I'm stressed, have 300 words typed and I hate my ending but I haven't even written it yet! 😑

Trying to motivate myself to instill changes from my betas, when I have it under 1,000 words and with a decent flow, but still know the betas made a good point and I don't want to sacrifice any darlings to birth new ones. That, and watching The Grinch on Netflix.

I'm done now, but I spent the better part of Saturday and today's mornings and afternoons doing some plumbing, or shopping for said plumbing. Not by choice, not for fun. Because I had to.

But I'm done now.

The text. Not the plumbing.

Lol. You're going to need to read my story when we can post them. Seriously. You won't believe it.

I spent most of Saturday working (I'm a realtor so weekends are busy!) and thinking over ideas for the story. I spent most of Sunday working and managed to sneak in about 3 hours to write up the story I came up with...and spent then the rest of Sunday night realizing I used a storeroom instead of a stockroom, but didn't have time to come up with an entirely new story since I had a bunch of paperwork to do for work.  Oh, and spent quite a bit of time both days admiring pictures of my new granddaughter. :)

What's the distinction? I thought they were two different words for the same thing.

Hopefully the judges won't see a difference! :)

Stockroom: a room in which stock of materials or goods are stored for use or sale.
Storeroom: a room or space where things are stored.

Not a huge difference, really, but they could be picky about it.

Last year my location was a gun range. I had nothing so I made it into a former gun range, now nightclub. I got the highest marks for that one out of last years entries.

Was the storeroom in a place where the items could possibly be sold?

No, sadly it was not.  It was just a storeroom in a house. If the worst thing they say is that I got that part wrong, I'll be happy.  I doubt that'll be the case, though!  The story morphed into a non- traditional writing style and I've learned from experience that the judges don't care for that sort of thing, even if it's what the story calls for.   My Political Satire from a previous competition was all in letter format and they really hated it. REALLY hated it.  I probably shot myself in the foot just by writing it the way I did, so I shouldn't really stress about the store room debacle. LOL
