Now that we're 26 hours out and you've had your R1 judgement day...any strong preferences or aversions for R2? Anything you plan to do different next round regardless of genre?

I'm avoiding deadlines. Talk. LOL

I usually wax on (and off, then on again) about avoiding RomCom. In my current mood, I feel like just about anything but HistFic, Political Satire, or straight Comedy would do.

My fingers are always crossed for drama, but anything that doesn't lean toward comedy (in its many subgenres) is welcome. I'm quick-witted and funny in the real world (if I say so myself Wink ), but I don't "write funny."
If I get political satire again - my bete noir - I may as well slit my wrists now.

I resemble this. LOL

I keep thinking Political Satire would be super fun. But every time a prompt nears, my gut reflex is "fun, but SOME OTHER TIME."

I want Comedy. Always Comedy. Last round I tried to write serious Suspense for the judges and it didn't turn out so well. This round I will be writing what I am comfortable with. So even if I draw Drama...how funny can Drama be before it crosses the line into Comedy?

I've paid my dues with political satire and historical fiction so I'm going to say NOT one of those.

I've had Romance x2, RomCom, Drama x2, Political Satire, Sci-fi, Suspense, Mystery, and Historical Fiction.
I've always wanted Fantasy or Horror.
I'll probably get anything but those two.

I'm praying to the Prompts Gods for a nice horror. Or a Historical fiction where the object will allow ancient civilizations.

I'm fearing the RomCom and straight up Comedy. I'm totally hilarious but no one gets me. I doubt that the judges would.

I write SciFi, Horror, and Mysteries and I proclaimed that I'd probably get RomCom for my first challenge and I was right! My husband says I'm funnier in print, but I only got a 6 so... I'm guessing I'm going to get either straight up romance or political satire this next round because my luck is crap, but I'd be okay with drama or suspense.

I'd be pretty nervous about anything except sci-fi or fantasy. And I already burned fantasy, so I'm guessing I've enjoyed the last of my comfort zone.

I honestly don't know the difference between thriller and suspense. Lol.  Or fantasy anf fairy tale for that matter.  Guess I have some studying to do if I get one.

I find that it's especially possible to tie Sci-fi into almost any other prompt. It's the first place I go when I see something terrifying like "RomCom" or "Romance." One year I wrote a RomCom at a con (uhh, Sci-fi adjacent), and the next I wrote a cyborg RomCom.

Love? PANIC. RUN FOR THE TECH.
