How much is that gonna hurt? I see a lot of people doing genre-crossover stories (mostly comedy + ____), but are fairy and fantasy tooclose?
On a brighter note, I've got three little pigs in there smoking Marlboros. That's gotta count for something. Best of luck, all! |

As someone whose wheelhouse includes Fairy Tale and Fantasy, I'm of the opinion that some hazy boundaries there aren't going to hurt you at all.

A bit late, but check out Vladimir Propp's "Fairy Tale Transformations." He provides a list of events that make up every single fairy tale and seven Dramatis Personae, basic character types in a fairy tale. It's one of my favorite literary theory pieces.

My Fantasy leans a little bit toward Fairytale... I think these things just happen... Especially with only 1000 words to play with.

I think my suspense has one foot in horror as well. Hopefully won't be given the sine die over it!

My everything tends to lean toward horror.
My fairy tale (a couple years ago) was very fantasyesque and did well. Same for my fantasy that was similar to a fairy tale. There's plenty of leeway, usually. Though it does always depend on judges.
