Like for not sticking close to the genre or subject?

And do they tell you if you get disqualified or do they just say you don't win.

Also saw another topic that showed like 10 or so returns from last year...do you know what place you fnisished or do you only know if you advanced.

Last year they announced the winner and four runners-up from each heat.  Our script was fourth runner-up in the Thriller/Ambulance Heat.  This year I think they're giving some kind of feedback to everyone, though.

Which heat are you in?  We're in Heat 2 -- Comedy/Weightlifting.

Is there some way to find out how much latitude you have with the "Action/Adventure" genre? I mean, can I have sci-fi or some other elements without crossing some invisible threshold? For instance, would "The Terminator" be safely considered an "Action" movie? Would "Army of Darkness"?

I'd say Terminator was an action movie. Army of Darkness would probably fall under the Horror/Comedy banner. It might be a good idea to check the listed genres on imdb for movies similar to your concept/script.

I'm pretty sure you could get away with sci-fi or horror elements in an action/adventure. For example, Indiana Jones has elements of horror/comedy/supernatural.

Chris answered that in a previous post, but there are so many now, it's hard to say where...

Well, I don't know how much I trust IMDB to match up with whatever the judges view as genre transgressions. For instance, the list of IMDBs top 10 "action" movies includes Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. Ie, here is what it says about "Army of Darkness":

Genre: Action / Adventure / Comedy / Fantasy / Horror

Damn it. All I really want to know is if I can have mutant zombies in my action movie.

The real question is: can you have an action movie WITHOUT mutant zombies? Evil Smile

I say go for it, but what do I know?
