It's only a deadline if you cross it ... then they can shoot you from the guard towers ... but I put it in with 10 minutes to spare because I used the time ... Makes it easier when the writing time is only 24 hours ...

Killing your babies ... cutting out scenes you think are gold ... is the screenwriter's curse ...

I seem to remember somewhere that it isn't complete disqualification ... but you lose 10% for every page over ... someone else may be able to elucidate ...

You could also have "Tightened" your screenplay if you were using a software package like Final Draft ... it re kerns every character and can turn a 120 page screenplay into the magic 105pp ... you probably could have shoehorned 15 pages into 12 ... I did once ... it's not really against the rules ... a few bitches cried "Foul!"

Heat 8: Ghost Story/An Oath/Chef

"Children's exploration can sometimes be more meaningful than intended."

The logline is horrible, even more so reading it again today and realizing that it really doesn't say anything about the story at all- but it is the product of an 11:59pm posting to just then realize that you didn't write a logline.

I'm a little worried because I think it was 12:00 or 12:01 by the time I received the submission confirmation message- so not sure how to-the-minute they are with the deadline.

Oh well.  Should've expected it knowing I always write long.  I finished at 11:25, but came in at 15 pages.  It is rather difficult to cut 3 pages down from something already so short!

We'll see.

By my count, 72 hours has come and gone... and I didn't receive confirmation yet that my screenplay has been received.

I'm sure I'm not the only one and figure it is just a delay. Is it typical for notification to come late?

You have to admire his market research though...I mean, people who spend all their spare time sitting alone in darkened rooms, typing furiously at computers are hardly going to be the kind of demographic who hit the fairway!!!

Group 19: Ghost Story / A Ferry Ride / An Auto Mechanic
 
Night Crossing
 
When Mia, a young girl from a dysfunctional family, encounters a strange immigrant on a bleak ferry journey, can she help him recall his forgotten past and in turn save her own parent's marriage?
 
I have to confess I like my story, enjoyed writing it but my experience of past comps and judging here leaves me a little concerned as to whether it is "ghosty" enough...
 
Have to agree with others...some great loglines, can't wait to read the screenplays.
